Williamson Employment Services is joining with staffing firms across the nation to celebrate National Staffing Employee Week, September 28 to October 4. Established by the American Staffing Association, this commemorative week honors the millions of employees working for US staffing firms.
Nationally, 3.2 million employees work in the staffing industry every week. Positions span all industry sectors and professions, and the majority are full-time. They can provide a bridge to long-term employment for staffing firm employees, who are given the opportunity to showcase their skills to prospective employers. Staffing assignments can also offer a flexible schedule for employees; one in five cites flexibility in work schedules as a key reason for choosing staffing, according to the ASA Staffing Employee Survey.
"National Staffing Employee Week is a salute to hardworking and talented staffing firm employees, who make a significant contribution to the growth of our local and national economy," says Judee Hopwood, president of Williamson Employment Services, Inc. Judee Hopwood, President of Williamson Employment Services, has been appointed as Chairwoman of the Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance Advisory Council. The Women’s Business Center (WBC) provides assistance and/or training in finance, management, marketing, procurement, as well as addressing specialized topics such as home-based businesses. WBCs provide individual business consulting and access to Small Business Administration (SBA) programs and services.
In her recent speech at the Women’s Business Center 10th Anniversary luncheon, Hopwood remarked, “As a member of the Advisory Council since 2008, I’ve seen the WBC grow into the powerhouse that it is today. As the new Chair of the WBC Advisory Council, I will continue the great work of former chairwoman Kim Richardson, and am committed to supporting the initiatives and momentum of the Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance. Each of you deserves a huge thank you for helping us honor the hard work and success of the WBC team, the start-ups they have helped launch, and the small businesses they have worked with to grow and expand.”
Hopwood is also an instructor for POWER (Promoting Opportunity for Women EntrepreneuRs), a series of classes offered through the WBC that helps first time women entrepreneurs learn the basics of starting and running a business.
